Polished Concrete, PSR and Energy Performance
The cover image is illustrative, not a documented Puur project.
A polished concrete appearance does not establish a floor’s thermal mass or energy savings. A structural slab and a thin cementitious overlay have different roles in a building’s heating design.
Identify what stores heat
The mass and location of the underlying construction matter. Do not attribute the behaviour of a thick concrete slab to a thin PSR overlay simply because both can have a concrete appearance.
Assess the whole building
Insulation, heat loss, solar exposure, heating controls and occupancy affect performance. A flooring photograph or a reflectivity claim cannot predict heating bills or lighting savings.
Check heated-floor compatibility
Ask the heating designer to use the proposed finish’s relevant data and thickness. Confirm the full build-up with the screed and flooring suppliers, including commissioning and restart requirements.
Avoid unsupported savings promises
Use project-specific calculations if energy performance is part of the brief. Puur can help with finish information and samples; a polished surface should not be sold as a standalone energy-saving measure.
Discuss your project with Puur
Send plans, photographs of the existing base, intended use and any heating details. We can discuss the finish, samples and the information needed before agreeing a specification.
