Polished Concrete and Heated Floors: Coordinating the Design

The cover image is illustrative, not a documented Puur project.

The phrase polished concrete can describe a structural slab or the appearance of a separate overlay. Confirm the proposed construction before applying guidance about heating or screed thickness.

Let the design define the layers

Heating pipe spacing, cover, insulation and structural requirements belong to the approved design. They should not be selected from a generic decorative-flooring blog.

Confirm the finish’s compatibility

Discuss the complete heating and base construction with the flooring supplier. A thin PSR overlay and a thick slab have different roles and should not share assumed thermal properties.

Plan commissioning before installation

Use the relevant heating, screed and flooring instructions for testing, moisture assessment and readiness. An early set or walkable base is not proof that heating or finishing can start.

Agree restart and handover

Obtain the written restart procedure, operating limits and care information for the selected system. Investigate unexpected changes with the installer rather than adjusting temperatures by trial and error.

Discuss your project with Puur

Send plans, photographs of the existing base, intended use and any heating details. We can discuss the finish, samples and the information needed before agreeing a specification.
